I can't say I am a massive fan of introductions. I do try my best however I tend to think that they can end up sounding like the start of an alcoholics anonymous meeting... My name is Charlie, I am 22 and I live in north London, United Kingdom. Moving on...
If I had to I would describe myself to be a creative and visually expressive individual. I am drawn to an array of creative fields, including photography, fashion, contemporary art and in more recent years, interior design. I am always one to be either redecorating or upcycling or that friend who can't seem to hold out a year before they're choosing their next style of soft furnishings, blinds and paints.
My background as you may have guessed is a rather creative one. Qualifications of which span from textiles, graphics, art, drama and most recently, photography. Last year I graduated from University for The Creative Arts (UCA) with a bachelor in Photography which consisted three years of photographic practice and study.
On embarking university, my 'field' in photography hadn't quite been established as I wasn't completely certain on what I liked to photograph. However, by my second year it was evident that fashion photography was my strength and that was the path I continued to follow.

Alongside my creative studies, I began working for the home interiors company Laura Ashley. It was here where I realised that interior design was an underlying interest of mine which hadn't yet been given a chance to make an appearance. Despite the 'quintessentially British' colour swatches of duck egg, ivory and eau de nil not quite being exactly what I would be attracted to in a home, I found myself piecing things together, seeing what did and didn't work, and pushing the boundaries of various textures and tones whilst attending to the stockroom and shelves. Oh, and I couldn't possibly forget serving the highly demanding middle aged wives of Surrey...
Unfortunately, after a year at Laura Ashley, my third year of university had arrived and it was time to set up my sleeping bag and tent in the campus library as that demanded most of my time. I felt lost without this job initially as I had a taste for the interiors field and what I could possibly be capable of. Since then, I have completed various home interiors projects and developed ways of expressing my creativity visually throughout my home.
After stepping into the real word since graduation, a number of home interiors projects and a house move on the way this September, it seems right that I begin to blog again.
I can't be certain as to what will fill the pages of my blog however I plan to both document and discuss my thoughts on anything creative. From interior design to fashion photography and from inspiration to contemporary art...Watch this space. This is my 'Interior Motive'.
